Press Release Summary = Chance\'s Spot, Pet Loss and Support Resources provides pet loss and grief resources, games and information to help those who have lost a pet.
Press Release Body = Clarksville, IN - April 14, 2007 - With pet care spending totaling over 39 billion dollars a year, there\'s no question that we love our companion animals. But what do we do when our pet dies? The pain of a pet\'s loss is often overwhelming, and many struggle with the grief. Chance\'s Spot Pet Loss and Support Resources is there to assist those in need.
Chance's Spot was created in the fall of 1998 as a personal tribute to a beloved English Setter, Chance. When Chance died, Gail Heller, his caregiver of 14 years, was overwhelmed with grief. In an effort to work through her loss, Gail decided to create a personal tribute to Chance in the form of a Web site. As a graphic designer, she knew all about design concepts, but very little about how to build a Web site.
Gail started Chance\'s Spot as a very simple one-page dedication. She read Internet articles, books and magazines about Web site design and scripting. After a while and as more people found Chance\'s Spot, she found that even though she still thought of Chance daily, she had begun to focus on creating a place where others could share their grief over the loss of a dearly loved pet.
The Web site has grown over the years, as has the number of people who visit. In 2005 Chance\'s Spot became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization deticated to assisting grieving pet owners. Gail provides presentations about pet loss in her community, while the site has resources, online support and information on the topic of pet loss. There\'s even a place for visitors to post a tribute to their pet. \"Many of the tributes are from men who say family and friends think they\'re silly for being so upset. After all, men aren\'t sopposed to cry,\" Gail says.
Gail has designed the Chance's Spot Web site, including all content and graphics, as well as all merchandise sold at the online store. She holds a master certification as a Web Site Developer Professional and has countless hours of design experience. She resides in Indiana with her two dogs, Moses and Mazie.
Gail would like very much to someday make Chance\'s Spot a real \'spot\' someplace in the U. S. She is currently seeking a land donation, or a monetary donation so that land can be purchased in order to create a memorial garden for grieving pet caregivers. Once developed, Chance\'s Spot will be the first and only organization in the U. S. to provide a memorial garden, pet loss education center and trained staff available to veterinarians and their patients.
